The flower of salt forms only on the surface of the salt plans, sheltered from the wind, and is harvested by hand, gently, with a special spatula. The salt pans are one of the biggest attractions of Slovenia. An environment where the symbiosis between the sea, the sun, the wind and the manual labor of Salt, repeated unchanged for over 700 years, has created the typical saltworker landscape. An environment populated by protected species has now become a Natural Park.
The Piran salt contains many trace of micro-elements and minerals needed by the human body. These are formed in the natural environment, with an average mineral composition richer than refined sea salt and is suitable for all types of diet.
